France favors political consultations with Iran over regional issues

TEHRAN, Jun. 30 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif conferred with President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher late on Thursday.

Zarif referred to the importance of relations with France and called France one of the most important partners of the Islamic Republic.

He also called for removal of banking obstacles between the two countries to facilitate bilateral economic and trade exchanges.

Zarif welcomed the continuation of political consultations with France and the more active role of Europe in resolving regional issues.

Larcher, for his part, while expressing solidarity with Iran over recent twin terrorist attacks in Tehran, congratulated President Rouhani on his reelection once again.

He underlined that France highly regards bilateral ties with Iran and favors regular political consultations with Iran over regional issues.

Zarif arrived in Paris from Rome on an official visit for talks with the country’s high-ranking officials.
