US gives misleading addresses for short-sighted reasons

TEHRAN, Jun. 28 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ghasemi said it was unfortunate that the American government turns a blind eye on main causes of terrorism in the US for improvident trading reasons.

Bahram Ghasemi, Spokesman of Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks in reaction to the recent decision by US Supreme Court which endorsed restrictions imposed on arrival of citizens from six Islamic countries, including Iran, to the North American country.

“Although temporary, the enactment goes contrary to claims made by US statesmen and indicates that American officials seek to deal with Muslims in an unfair and discriminatory way,” he continued.

“The overwhelming majority of Muslims residing in the US and those who travel to the country, including Iranians, have all been and are followers of the rule of law, peace seekers and away from extremism and violence,” stressed the official adding “nonetheless, American rulers have always adopted a cynical, insulting and humiliating attitude towards them.”

Ghasemi pointed to stances taken by the US president, both during the election campaign and after assuming power, as one instance of offensive behavior against Muslims.

Iran’s FM spokesman, while condemning the ban against six Muslim countries, reiterated that the American government was pursuing short-term trading benefit while ignoring major roots of terrorist actions inside the US.

“Islamic Republic of Iran will scrutinize the decision by the US Supreme Court before taking appropriate and proportionate actions,” Bahram Ghasemi concluded.
