Bushehr nuclear plant generates 6.2b KWh energy

TEHRAN, Feb. 26 (MNA) – Around 6.2 billion kWh of energy has been delivered to the country’s power grid, executive office of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant Operation Co. reported to Iran’s nuclear chief on Sunday.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi paid a visit to Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on Sunday where he monitored various stages of fuel change, semi-major overhauls, as well as activities related to objectives of the plant’s units 2 and 3.

Continuous and uninterrupted production, and the delivery of about 6.2 billion kilowatt-hours of energy to the National Power Grid, as well as the reduction of the number of Russian experts at the site from around 300 in the last three years to about 25 in the current year were some of the notable factors on the report.

In another part of the tour, Nuclear Power Plants Maintenance and Support Co. (TAPNA) presented Salehi with a report on the maintenance currently underway at the plant and discussed the role of Iranian experts and companies and the drop in the shares of Russian contractors. The report further outlined the company’s future plans for replacing about 200 Russian technicians and experts with Iranian experts.

Salehi then visited the reactor building where he closely monitored the maintenance of one of the main pumps in the first circuit and the fuel handling in the core of the reactor, and held talks with the experts in charge.

The nuclear chief also visited the site where new units were scheduled to be constructed and it was decided that the site would be assigned to Russian contractors for excavation.
