'Parting' to vie at PIFF

TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – 'Parting,' a 2016 Afghan-Iranian drama film directed by Navid Mahmoudi, will vie at Portland Film Festival in US.

The movie was selected to participate at the 89th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. However, the film was not included on the final list of submissions published by the Academy. It was screened at the Busan International Film Festival in October 2016. Parting was the inaugural film at the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala.

Parting narrates the story of two young Afghans in love, Nabi and Fereshteh. Fereshteh leaves the country with her parents to seek refuge in Iran and Nabi suffers from to seek a better life for her love. The love story gets lost in the mist of reaching and separation. It tells the story of suffering, pain of immigration and homelessness.

The Portland International Film Festival (PIFF) is an annual showcase of the very best in new world cinema. PIFF is the largest film event in Oregon, premiering more than 140 international shorts and feature films to Portland audiences each February.
