Iran-Japan ties enjoy great leaps during post-sanctions era

TEHRAN, Feb. 13 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy FM called Iran-Japan ties as cordial and close, saying it has seen a great jump during post-JCPOA era and sanctions lift.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi made the remarks on Sunday during a ceremony to award Dr. Nemat Hassani, dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Shahid Beheshti University, with the Order of the Rising Sun.

Extending gratitude to the efforts of former and current ambassadors to Tokyo, Iran-Japan Friendship Association and the Alumni Association of Iran in Japan, Araghchi noted during the sanctions era when economic and political relations were minimized, cultural section maintained relations and kept communications open between the two countries, and after the implementation of JCPOA, relations between the two countries are in progress.

“Both sides call for the development of relations and enjoy conclusive determination to further expand their bilateral ties,” he underlined.

Felicitating Dr. Hosseini, Araghchi said he is well-known in the field of science and culture, especially when talking about scientific and cultural relations between Iran and Japan.

Araghchi noted that Hosseini is the 8th Iranian figure to receive the Imperial Seal of Japan after the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

The order is awarded to those who have made distinguished achievements in the fields, including international relations, promotion of Japanese culture, advancements in their field, development in welfare or preservation of the environment, Araghchi said, hoping for establishing same awards in Iran to honor those who have served great for the culture, history and civilization of Iran.
