An informed source announced the upcoming visit of Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan to Tehran aimed at continuation of Iran-Armenia defense negotiations.
“Strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan, given the good political relations between the two, is on the agenda of Sargsyan’s visit to Iran,” the source added.
The Armenian minister is slated for talks with his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan and a number of other officials.
Meanwhile, Sargsyan said at a press conference on Friday that Yerevan hopes to continue military cooperation with the United States during the presidency of Donald Trump. He went on to add that the cooperation includes medical military education, training, sergeants courses, and other spheres.
Armenia is currently participating in the NATO peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
Iran will also receive French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault on Monday. Ayrault will be accompanied by an economic delegation to chair Iran-France joint economic commission’s meeting in Tehran.
