Atlan, produced in Iranian Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) and directed by Moein Karimoddini, narrates the life story of an Iranian Turkmen horse-riding instructors named Ali and Ilhan in the northeastern Iranian region of Turkmen Sahra. Ali plans to marry with the money Ilhan wins in horse racing, however, it is not going well, Ilhan is put under unforeseen conditions and Ali has to fight for his horse’s championships.
Atlan is among the most successful documentaries in the history of Iranian cinema in recent years.
Atlan competed with 200 short, documentaries, feature and TV movies in the competition section of the festival. This is the second award that Atlan received in Italy during last 10 days. It also won Best Feature ward last week at Italy's Front Doc Festival.
