Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Mohammadreza Nematzadeh, made the remark in a meeting with Carlos Tavares, Chairman of the Managing Board of PSA Peugeot Citroën, on Tuesday in Tehran.
Nematzadeh deemed cooperation with Iranian auto parts manufacturers, expansion of exports market, as well as implementation of plans according to schedule, as the key elements for advancing the joint venture between Iran Khodro and Peugeot, known as IKAP.
The Iranian minister also considered facilitation of banking relations between the two countries as an important requirement for the cooperation, adding “proper conditions have been provided on the Iranian side for expanding banking relations and we are hoping that the French side will soon remove the remaining obstacles.”
He further stressed the need for holding workshops on exports, quality, costs, project management and cooperation between the two countries’ universities.
Carlos Tavares, for his part, stressed a coordinated implementation of production projects with two Iranian automakers, Iran Khodro and Saipa, adding “we will welcome any proposals from the Iranian side for the further facilitation of the process.”
“Our exports priority will be the markets proposed by Iran, and we will make efforts to prioritize exports based on our previous export agreements,” he said.
During his stay in Tehran, Tavares also held talks with managers of Iran’s Central Bank, Auto Parts Manufacturers Association, Iran Khodro and Saipa.
