Iranian FM lands in Nicaragua

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Mohammad Javad Zarif, in the second leg of his Latin American tour, arrived in the capital city of Managua on Tuesday morning Tehran local time.

Foreign Minister of Iran was welcomed by two top-ranking officials of the Nicaraguan government upon his first arrival in the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport.

The Iranian official is slated to take part in the Joint Economic forum of Nicaragua’s state and economy sectors to be held soon.

Meeting with the Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega in addition to a number of officials and ministers of the Central American nation are also on the agenda of Zarif’s one-day visit.

The flight of Iran’s FM and his accompanying entourage was performed with a two-hour delay due to Zarif’s prolonged meeting with the Cuban President Raúl Castro.

Mohammad Javad Zarif had attended meetings with the Cuban president as well as some authorities of the Latin American state.

The chief diplomat is leading a large political-economic delegation comprising 20 managers of state corporates, 60 heads of private sector companies and also a number of political officials and media reporters.
