Iranian discus thrower Ehsan Hadadi came up with a 60.15-meter throw to land 15th in Group B of the qualification round.
Accordingly, Hadadi, who competed and won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics with a 68.18m throw, filed to repeat his personal record and missed the final round of the event.
Iran’s other discus thrower Mahmoud Samimi had no better performance in Group A and was eliminated after his 56.94m throw in the qualification round.
Samimi, who had secured an Olympic berth by a 65m throw in 2016, only landed 14th and failed to cruise to the finals.
Competing in long jump athletics Rio 2016, Mohammad Arzandeh met 15 rivals in Group B of the sportive event.
Arzandeh’s best jump was 7.31 meters as he finished in the 15th position in the first round and dropped out of the tournament.
Hamidreza Zouravand represented Iran at the 20km walk athletics event though he only managed to land in the 54th position by clocking 1:27:50.
China’s Wang Zhen finished the in 1:19:14 to snatch the gold medal followed by Cai Zelin of China and Australia’s Dane Bird-Smith who won silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Iran’s only female representative in the athletics event was Leila Rajabi who took part in Women’s shot put.
Rajabi only managed to accomplish a 16.34m throw to end up in the 16th place of Group A.
Leila Rajabi, whose personal record is 18.08 meters, finished 32nd overall and could not proceed any further than the qualification round.
