Korea eyes coop. with Iran’s marine tech. centers

TEHRAN, Jul. 27 (MNA) – South Korea is eager to participate in various projects with Iran’s marine technological centers, director of Marine Industries Technology Development Council said Tuesday.

Mohammad Saeed Seif, Director of Marine Industries Technology Development Council, Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology, made the announcement in the second Iran-Korea economic forum on Tuesday, adding “during the joint meeting, we discussed ways to expand and implement mutual maritime cooperation.”

The first Iran-Korea forum hosted by Isfahan and Tehran was held in April with an aim to expand the cooperation platform for the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Korea in the post-sanctions era.

“We are planning to develop technological cooperation between the two countries, and for this purpose, we have signed a number of agreements,” Seif added.

Korea has great expertise in shipbuilding and port industries as well as in high-tech industries. Iran seeks to utilize this expertise to develop its maritime and port sector. The Forum which was held in April brought together experts and business people from both countries who discussed policy issues of trade and investment and cooperation in maritime and port industries, and highlighted the expansion of businessmen exchanges of the two countries.
