The official made the comment in reaction to a news item published by Reuters on remarks attributed to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in regard to Iran’s missile tests, and expressed hope that Reuters’ news item is not grounded in facts.
He advised the UN chief to refrain from making interpretations that would run contrary to the text of Iran’s nuclear deal – considering that Mr. Ban and his colleagues had not been present during nuclear negotiations and are uniformed about the agreements. He added that such interpretations are merely a reflection of internal political pressures exerted on the UN chief from one or a few Security Council’s permanent members.
The FM official further called on Ban to perform within the scope of his authority, and present a fair and realistic report on the US failure in fulfilling its JCPOA-related obligations which are acknowledged by all countries that have resumed their economic cooperation with Iran.
