Two plays commemorate Kiarostami

TEHRAN, Jul. 06 (MNA) – ‘Eclipse’ by Ayoub Aghakhani and ‘Striking Cermony’ by Mohammad Rahmanian are dedicated to late acclaimed filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.

‘Eclipse’ directed and written by Ayoub Aghakhani and acted by Hamidreza Azarang and Nasim Adabi which is on the stage these days, dedicated Tuesday night’s performance to Abbas Kiarostami.

At the end of the play, Aghakhani came to the stage to ask the audience to observe one minute of silence in memory of Kiarostami. “The vacuum Kiarostami’s death has caused will not be compensated for centuries; so we keep silence for one minute in memory of and respect for a man who raised named of Iran in world of culture,” he said.

Meanwhile, the acclaimed playwright and director Mohammad Rahmanian came to stage at the end of performance of ‘striking ceremony’ on Tuesday night to pay tribute to late filmmaker. “A few days ago, we celebrated birthday of Abbas Kiarostami here in main hall of with you the audience attending and I remember very clearly that how emotionally the birthday was held; and now that he is gone, his love is with us and we respect that. May his soul rest in peace,” said Rahmanian.
