Iranian airliners hold talks with Boeing

TEHRAN, Jun. 19 (MNA) – An aviation official said seven Iranian airlines have conducted negotiations with America’s Boeing over the purchase of new aircraft as well as parts supply.

Secretary of Iran's Aviation Companies Association Maghsoud Asadi Samani, while touching upon the talks between Iranian airliners and Boeing Aircraft manufacturing company, said “Iran Air is directly holding talks with Boeing while other Iranian airlines have also conducted negotiations with the American company which are being pursued.”

“Last year, Boeing representatives made a visit to Iran where they provided several airlines the opportunity to hold meetings with them, stressed the official adding “since then, negotiations with Boeing are still continuing until the two sides will sign a contract.”

Asadi Samani reiterated that the talks between six or seven Iranian airliners and representatives of Boeing are still going on and they pertain to purchasing of new airplanes as well as supplying of parts.

Emphasizing that foreign financers will definitely be hired for buying new aircraft, he maintained “due to the need for financing in the aircraft purchase, there needs to be an external source of supply since Iranian airlines lack the required finance.”

The official pointed out that requests have been made for the purchase of a variety of aircraft models; “nevertheless, Boeing 737 would enjoy the greatest demand due to its higher consistency with the conditions in Iran,” he concluded.
