Tehran-Tbilisi flights to soar

TEHRAN, May 28 (MNA) – The number of flights between Iran and Georgia will be increased to a total 10 flights per week.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Georgia’s Independence Day on May 26, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour traveled Tbilisi and held separate meetings on Wednesday with Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze as well as Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Jalaghania.

Rahimpour discussed long-term bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as boost of tourism and transit ties with Georgian officials.

During the meetings, Georgian officials said that there is no obstacle on way of expanding bilateral relations between the two states including the banking cooperation.

The Iranian and Georgian officials discussed revival of weekly flights between the two countries after re-execution of visa removal agreement for Iranian citizens by Georgia.

Accordingly, the number of flights between Tehran and Tbilisi will reach a total of 10 in the coming two weeks.

Iranian deputy foreign minister conveyed the invitation message of Iranian First Vice President Es'hagh Jahangiri for Georgia Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili to the country's foreign minister.

Georgian foreign minister thanked Iran for recognizing the country's independence and supporting its sovereignty in the past 25 years.
