IRTI seminar to create roadmap for competitive Islamic finance

JEDDAH, May 11 (MNA) –The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group, will hold a seminar on human capital development on May 13 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

IRTI is collaborating with Bank Indonesia to organize the seminar with the theme “Producing Competitive Human Capital for Economic Empowerment”, in conjunction with the 41st Annual Meeting of the IDB Group.

The seminar will stimulate discussion on various issues of human capital provision, especially in the Islamic finance industry. Government officials, academics and professionals will identify the prevailing human capital challenges in developing countries and explore viable solutions, as well as formulate a roadmap to better align Islamic finance education and employability.

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Dr. Hendar, will give the opening address, to be followed by statements from the Indonesian Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Prof. H. Mohamad Nasir, and the Director General of IRTI, Prof. Mohamed Azmi Omar.

Subsequent discussions will focus on the need for a strategic direction pertaining human capital development, IDB’s capacity building interventions in Indonesia, and strategy to foster human capital development in the Islamic finance industry.

Experts to participate in the discussions include Mrs. Francine Pickup, UNDP Indonesia Deputy Country Director; Dr. Muhammad Syafii Antonio, CEO, Tazkia Group; Ms. Nyra Mahmood, Director, Simply Sharia Human Capital; Mr. Badlisyah Abdul Ghani, President, Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals; and Mr. Razak Mohamed Lazim of Al Irsyad Islamic School, Singapore.
