He said the most probable start date could be April 13. According to De Mistura, the next important point to be discussed will be the political transition in Syria, as in the meetings last month the parties examined the terms for the negotiations.
"That's why I'm working with regional and international players in the analysis of positions that will allow them to advance in the next round," he said in Geneva.
The issue of the transition generates marked differences due to the fact that the West, its allies in the region and the Syrian opponents insist in interpreting it as president Bashar Al Assad's step down.
Damascus considers this stand as pro-interference, and insists that the future of the Syrian leaders is only in the hands of the people, a view supported by Russia and Iran.
According to De Mistura, these days contacts are being held in several capitals to guarantee the success of the process to end the hostilities, which started on March, 2011 as a result of the intention of the West and its allies to impose a change of regime on Syria.
The UN diplomat plans to travel along with his colleagues to Moscow, Damascus, Tehran, Riyadh, Ankara and other cities before the resumption of the talks in Geneva.
