Iran's 'Atlan' to go on screen at TIFF

TEHRAN, Apr. 05 (MNA) – An Iranian documentary 'Atlan', by Moein Karimoddini, will be featured at the Tiburon International Film Festival.

The event which is going to be held on April 8-15, will host 65 short, feature and documentary films from 30 countries, including documentary film Atlan, which is directed in the northeastern Iranian region of Turkmen Sahra during winter 2012.

Oblivion Season by Abbas Rafei and Buffalo directed by Kaveh Sajjadi are other two Iranian films going on screen at TIFF.

Atlan narrates the life story of an Iranian Turkmen horse-riding instructors named Ali and Ilhan in the northeastern Iranian region of Turkmen Sahra. Ali plans to marry with the money Ilhan wins in horse racing, however, it is not going well, Ilhan is put under unforeseen conditions and Ali has to fight for his horse’s championships.

Atlan is named as the most successful documentary film of Iranian cinema over the past few years.

The movie has so far received many awards at international film festivals, including the best documentary award at the Cinéma Vérité and Crystal Simorgh for Best Documentary Film at the Fajr International Film Festival.
