Iran opens new gasoline export border terminal

TEHRAN, Mar. 20 (MNA) – A new terminal to export Iranian gasoline to Iraq has been launched in time with the soar in the sale of the oil product to neighboring countries.

Since March, 2015, nearly two billion liters of gasoline has been issued to various countries including Iraq, Iraqi Kurdistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and some African countries.

The volume of exports of Iranian gasoline to Iraq and Afghanistan, as two traditional customers, experienced a significant increase in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20) while the export turnover of the oil product to Iran is expected to rise further in the current year with the opening of the new terminal.

Seyed Ramazan Hashemi, Director of Kermanshah Oil Products Distribution Company, pointed to the shipment of gasoline to Iraq through Khosravi border asserting “the export of Iran’s gasoline to the neighboring country was launched for the first time via Khosravi border terminal in Kermanshah.”

The official announced that about nine million liters of gasoline has been sold in retail to Iraqi trucks at Parviz Khan border market.

Khosravi border terminal is placed in Kermanshah and in zero border line between Iran and Iraq. The border terminal is 19km off Ghasreshirin County which is 199km away from province center. It is to be noted that khaeghin is the nearest city of the opposite county with 7 km distance.

Provincial Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Mohammad-Mehdi Gharaei referred to the latest status of gasoline exports to Afghanistan stressing “in the 11-month period, more than 173 million liters of gasoline has been transferred to Afghanistan through borders of Khorasan Razavi province.

“Border sales of gasoline at Dogharun, Lotfabad and Sarakhs border terminals have reached a total of about 60 million liters,” he noted.
