Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, who led the Friday Prayers today, hailed the great participation in elections of Parliament and Assembly of Experts and underlined that the massive turnout is a proof of public support for the Islamic Republic.
“Islamic Republic of Iran is governed on the basis of constitution, which has four key principles no one has the right to change; the principles are Islam, juristocracy (Velayt-e Faqih), republicanism and official religion,” said the cleric urging all elected representatives to act within the defined frame, adding “the general strategy of Islamic Republic of Iran would not change with change in composition of its politicians.”
He further pointed to the recent decision of [Persian] Gulf Cooperation Council to blacklist Hezbollah of Lebanon, underlining that the wrong action would have unfavorable results for the countries seeking normalization of relations with Israeli regime, adding “Lebanon’s security owes to resistant Hezbollah.”
Ayatollah Khatami also extended his condolences on demise of Ayatollah Tabasi, senior Iranian cleric, who passed away on Friday morning.
He further condoled with Iranian nation on death of Farajollah Salahshour, Iranian filmmaker, who passed away on 27 February 2016.
