Iranian, Russian defense mininsters meet

TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) – The visiting Russian defense minister met and conferred with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran.

Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, who is in Tehran to deliver a special message by President Putin of Russia, met with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan discussing bilateral issues.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the latest trends in defense agreements between the two countries also dealing with the upcoming international conference on security issues in the Russian capital of Moscow.

On January 20, the defense ministers of Iran and Russia signed the agreement after a meeting in Tehran.

The agreement includes provisions that entail closer cooperation on maintenance of regional and international peace, security and stability, and the fight against various types of terrorism, separatism and extremism.
