US reduces medical sanctions against Iran

TEHRAN, Nov. 03 (MNA) – The US Department of the Treasury announced in a statement that the United States has eased up on sanctions against Iran to permit a broad list of medical supplies to be exported or re-exported there, Spuntik News reported.

According to the statement on Monday, the Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is updating the List of Medical Supplies eligible for exportation or re-exportation to Iran under the general license.

The Russian News reported the move is a modification of the Iranian Transactions And Sanctions Regulations (ITSR) within the general license originally issued on October 22, 2012 for the export of basic medical supplies to Iran.

On Thursday and Friday, Secretary of State John Kerry met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Vienna to discuss the nuclear agreement reached in mid-July as well as the Syria conflict and Teheran’s full participation in the Syrian peace process.
