Iran welcomes Qatar proposal on regional talks

TEHRAN, Oct. 01 (MNA) – Iranian FM spokeswoman said Iran cooperates with Persian Gulf countries and welcomes developing talks with neighboring nations.

Speaking to the Arabic-language Al-Ahad news website, Marzieh Afkham emphasized on Iran’s strategies for reinforcing security and stability in the region and welcomed the recent proposal of Qatar on holding regional talks.

She added “Iran prioritizes cooperation with the neighbors and Muslim countries and in the past two years it has always pursued the expansion of cooperation in different areas with its neighbors with good will.”

The current situation and regional crises, the threats of the terrorists and extremists which have reached to the European boarders, requires cooperation in order to enter a new era pass through the crises, she added.

She noted that Iran welcomed the recent proposal of Qatar on regional talks and added “constructive ties between regional nations will hold positive influences on the region’s future.”
