Iran-Iraq joint summit on border patrolling launches

ILAM, Sep. 28 (MNA) – The fifth joint summit on border patrolling of Iran’s west provinces and Iraqi border cities began in Mehran, Ilam Province.

The fifth summit opened with the presence of Commander of the Iranian Border Guard Units General Ghasem Rezaei.

The summit will review the security conditions on the borders of Iran and Iraq with particular attention to the upcoming massive march for Arbaeen during which a large number of pilgrims will cross the borders.

The fourth joint summit on Iran-Iraq border patrolling was held the Iraqi capital Baghdad on October 26 last year.

Short distance to holy cities of Iraq and high security of the path has led Iranian pilgrims to travel to Iraq through Mehran border.

The meeting is attended by border commanders of five provinces located in the west of Iran as well as Iraqi representatives from border provinces.
