ALBA-TCP alerts on attacks against Venezuela

CARACAS, Sep. 16 (MNA) – The countries of The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) yesterday repudiated the smear campaign and attacks against Venezuela by foreign elements.

In a statement issued from the capital, the bloc expressed its strong commitment to the independence, self-determination of the peoples, as well as to the sovereignty and the juridical equality of states as principles of harmonious relations of nations.

The countries of the ALBA-TCP cannot accept attitudes that seek to interfere with or constitute interference in the internal affairs of a state, says the text.

The statement also expressed the concern of the alliance because of the assessment of international authorities on Venezuelan judicial decisions to address acts of terrorist nature and ensure the human rights of the victims.

Certain countries that spoke about this fact demonstrate the double standard that undermines the international legal order and supports the political conditions to overthrow constitutional governments in order to seize their strategic natural resources, it adds.

The ALBA-TCP felt that with such a position these nations seek to hide serious violations of human rights in their own territories and also prevent the deepening of democratic processes developed by other states.

The alliance said it will remain vigilant to threats to the independence of Venezuela and will alert on attempts to attack the country.
