Parliament to announce final decision on JCPOA soon

TEHRAN, Sep. 05 (MNA) – Arriving in Tehran, Iran’s Parliament speaker explained the achievements of the World Conference of Parliament Speakers in New York and said that the Parliament will announce its final decision on JCPOA in October.

Describing the outcomes the Fourth World Conference of Parliament Speakers, Ali Larijani said that, “we had travelled to New York along with a number of MPs to outline the positions of the Isalmic Republic of Iran and we discussed the issue of ISIL terrorist group, the relationship between peace and democracy, and sustainable development among other issues.”

Larijani dubbed the conference as a great opportunity to discuss several regional issues including nuclear matters with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Stating that the Syrian crisis had also been investigated during the trip to New York, he asserted that, “the UN has taken certain actions with regard to Syria and has assigned certain representatives to discuss on the subject of Syria that we hope will be useful.”

He also noted his several meetings with counterparts from different countries and the discussions for expansion of bilateral relations on all possible fields. 

“During interviews with several media in New York we had the opportunity to exchange views with American experts and critics, and in response to their questions and comments we managed to address some problems which are the result of America’s improper behavior clearly stating Iran’s approach towards the nuclear and regional issues,” said Larijani.

He further expressed hope that cooperation and dialogue with various countries can set the ground for solving major regional problems specifically the ISIL Takfiri group so that the Middle East will gain stable security.

Referring to the Leader’s speech on the necessity of investigating JCPOA, Larijani said “because of the multifaceted nature of JCPOA, several commissions in the Parliament have taken up the task of studying and analyzing this subject,”

He underlined that, “according to the plans, all commissions will finish their investigation of JCPOA in October and we will have a chance to discuss the issue in greater detail to be able to announce the results taking into mind all conditions.”

Ali Larijani with five MPs who were attending the Fourth World Conference of Parliament Speakers arrived in Tehran today morning.

During his 6-day trip to New York, Iran’s Parliament speaker met several delegations and Parliament Speakers of other countries, Iranian scholars in New York, a number of US and international media as well as US Jewish anti-Zionist society.
