He made the remark in a Wednesday meeting with the Iraqi National Security Adviser Faleh al-Fayad in Baghdad.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the security situation as well as the latest developments in the region with the Iraqi official.
He further referred to the sensitive conditions in Iraq and highlighted the need for the nation to settle differences and act as a unified front under the Iraqi flag against the Zionist-backed Takfiri terrorists.
The Iranian minister further stressed that the courageous nations of Iraq, Syria and Iran are confronting the ISIL inhuman atrocities with seriousness and their only objective is the ultimate destruction of the terrorist group.
The Iraqi official, for his part, extended his appreciation with Iran’s decisive role and position in the region regarding their assistance to Iraq, adding "Tehran’s influential role in the region is clear to all."
Arrived in Baghdad on Monday, Brig. Gen. Dehghan met with Iraqi counterpart Maj. Gen. Khalid and Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), Nouri al-Maliki and a number of other high ranking Iraqi authorities.
Defense Minister Dehghan’s visit to Iraq comes a few days after Iraqi President Fouad Massoum paid an official visit to Tehran.
