Top ranking authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran are going to attend the opening ceremony of 28th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) on Tuesday morning at Imam Khomeini's Grand Musalla. Opened to general public on May 6 the event will run through May 16, hosting 2800 international publishers from 65 countries.
Using the slogan “reading as dialogue with world,” the event is going to host interactions between global cultures and civilizations.
“We have allocated 130 stands to printing houses from foreign countries,” said Dr. Amir Masoud Shahramnia Deputy Managing Director of TIBF adding that it was expected that the 170,000 foreign titles mark a 30% rise in number of books.
Seyed Mehdi Jafari Jozani, Director of Public Affairs Committee said that more than 500 journalists and photographers have applied for press coverage of the event of which 421 are from Iran and 76 are foreigners. He also added that registration is still open and more journalists were expected to apply.
Receiving more than 5 million people every year, Tehran International Book Fair is a social and cultural event with book displays, panel discussions and publishing deals.
The Fair is considered the most significant event of its kind in Asia and the Middle East and a significant venue for publishers and book lovers to exchange opinions and experiences.
