Iran’s 33rd Fajr Intl. Filmfest. hails winners

TEHRAN, May. 03 (MNA) – The 33rd Fajr International Film Festival wrapped up in Tehran after a week of film screening and announced its winners.

The winners were granted the awards in a ceremony marking the end of the 6-day event in Tehran on Saturday, in which senior Iranian officials and major cinema figures were in attendance.

The jury panel of the FIFF Islamic and Asian Countries' Cinema (East Panorama) section selected the following as the winners of the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival:

Best Performance:

Marat Oripov for Mualim (The Teacher) directed by Nasir Saidov (Tajikistan)

Best Performance:

Badema for Norjmaa directed by Bayane Ruul (China)

Best Script:

Safi Yazdanian for What time is it in your World? (Iran)

Best Director:

E. MusaOglu for Nabat (Azarbaijan)

Best Film:

Norjmaa directed by Bayane Ruul (China)

Special Jury Award:

Men Who Save the World directed by L. S. Tat (Malaysia)

 

The jury panel of the FIFF award for World Cinema (Salvation) announced the following as the winners:

Best Performance:

Govardhan for Names Unknown directed by Bijukumar Damodaran (India)

Best Script:

Norjmaa directed by Bayane Ruul (China)

Best Director:

F. Hacihafiz Oglu for Snow Pirates (Turkey)

Best Film:

Siddharth directed by Richie Mehta (Canada-India)

Special Jury Award:

Borderless directed by Amir Hossein Asgari (Iran)

 

The jury panelcomprising five Muslim women for the special screening announced the following as winners:

Best Young Talent:

Ali Mollagholipour for Dowry's Sugar Bow

Best Film with an approach to converging Islamic and Asian nations:

The Search directed by M. Hazanavicius (France-Georgia)

Moustapha Akkad Special Award:

Queen of the Mountain directed by S. SherNiyaz (Kyrgyzstan)

 

The 33rd FIFF was held from April 25 to May 2, 2015 in Tehran. Over 300 films have been submitted to the festival from various countries including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Britain, Ireland, USA, Belgium, Italy and Turkey.

This is the first year that international section of FIFF was held separately from the national section.
