Saudis lose status in Islamic world: Shamkhani

TEHRAN, Apr. 29 (MNA) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council asserted that Saudi Arabia has lost its place in Islamic world by killing innocent Yemenis.

In a meeting with Syrian Defense Minister, Ali Shamkhani discussed the latest developments in Syria and the region.

Praising Syrian nation and government resistance against terrorism during recent years, Shamkhani said the aim of supporting terrorist groups by some countries is providing the security of Israeli regime.

Stressing resistance front’s consistent support for Syria, he described Syria’s position in regional equations as important and influential and underlined that Syria will act more effectively after resolving its crisis.

“The international community has understood that reinforcing violence and using terrorism as a tool to reach the goals only leads to worsening the situation and that negotiations and diplomacy are the only solution,” Shamkhani stated.

Condemning Saudis immoral invasion of Yemen, the official said “announcing ceasefire and resuming attacks indicates Saudi Arabia’s doubt on the action and signifies the lack of unity in Saudi power and decision-making system.”

Shamkhani emphasized that by invading its poorest and weakest neighbors and killing hundreds of innocent civilians, Saudi Arabia now lacks the credit among Islamic countries.
