2 Iranian must-see libraries before you die!

TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (MNA) – Two of Iranian libraries have been listed in IFLA 1001 libraries to see before you die

Earlier this June, IFLA Public Libraries Section called for fellow librarians all over the world to nominate a library from their respective countries for a number of reasons such as the library building, the location, the innovative programs or the community engagement.

About 25 countries have representatives in IFLA 1001 libraries to see before you die!, with Iran having two of its libraries listed as ‘must see’ libraries: Center of Deeds of Astan Quds Razavi in Mashahd, and Bazar Library in Tehran.

The reason for the selection of Bazar Library is that it is located at the beautiful historical house of Shahzadeh Shah Beygom Khanom Ziasaltaneh, a relative of Nasereddin Shah Qajar. This library, with over 6000 volumes on various topics also features a magnificent Hall of Mirrors.

The Central Library of Astan Quds Razavi in Mashahd was established before 1457 and holds over 1.1 million volumes. It is an international center for Islamic research, containing numerous manuscripts and rare works of antiquity of Islamic history.
