TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (MNA) – The National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) has recently released a new image of the red salt water of Lake Urmia from the International Space Station (ISS).

The recently released image of the red salt water of Lake Urmia in northwest Iran from the International Space Station was recorded from an altitude of 260 miles above the Earth's surface.

Over the past few decades, this lake has shrunk in size and its salt concentration has increased, NASA said, adding that the microscopic organisms have changed the color of the water to red and orange.
