TEHRAN, Nov. 07 (MNA) – Iranian karatekas grabbed 6 colorful medals on the first day of the 21st Asian Cadet Junior and U21 Championships underway in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Iran’s karate fighters won six medals including 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals in the sporting event.

Iranian athlete Ghazal Fathi (-47 kg) in the women’s division defeated his opponent from Japan 5-3 in the final and snatched the gold medal, while Aylin Bahari lost to this Japanese rival in the Women's Individual Kata and received the silver medal.

Other Iranian men’s and women’s karate fighters including Mohammad-Hossein Farahani (+70 kg), Saghar Jandaghi (-61 kg), Arash Razani (-70 kg), and Zahra Rezazadeh (-54 kg) each gained the bronze medals for their country.

The 21st Asian Cadet Junior and U21 Championships are underway in Almaty, Kazakhstan from November 6-8.
