TEHRAN, Oct. 22 (MNA) – Iranian wushu fighter Saman Ahmadi snatched the silver medal at the talo event of the 2023 World Combat Games underway in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

Ahmadi won the silver medal with 9.583 points and stood in second place after his rival from Nepal with 9.723 points.

Brazil stood in third place in the sporting event.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has sent 7 wushu fighters including Shahrbanoo Mansourian, Haniyeh Rajabi, Zahra Kiani, Mohammad-Mehdi Rezaei, Mohammad-Reza Rigi, Shahin Bani-Talebi and Saman Ahmadi to the 2023 World Combat Games.

A total of 1,657 athletes (913 male and 744 female) from 80 countries compete in 16 sports, namely aikido, boxing, fencing, judo, ju-jitsu, karate, kendo, arm wrestling, kickboxing, Muaythai, sambo, savate (French boxing), sumo, taekwondo, wrestling, and wushu.

The 2023 World Combat Games is underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from October 20 to 30, 2023.
