TEHRAN, Sep. 27 (MNA) – Iranian wushu practitioner Shahrbanoo Mansourian won a bronze medal in the 2022 Asian Games on Wednesday.

She defeated Gozel Rahmedova of Turkmenistan in quarterfinals but was defeated against China’s Wu Xiaowei 2-0 in the semifinals.

Five Iranian wushu athletes, namely Elahe Mansourian (women’s 52kg), Shoja Panahi (men’s 60kg), Afshin Salimi (men’s 65kg), Mohsen Mohammadseifi (men’s 70kg) and Yousef Sabri (men’s 75kg) will represent Iran in the final match on Thursday.

With more than 12,000 competitors from 45 nations and territories, the 2022 Asian Games has more participants than the Olympics.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
