TEHRAN, Jun. 16 (MNA) – Stressing that the Friday presidential election is a significant and crucial issue in the country, President Rouhani called on all Iranians to go to the polls.

Speaking in the cabinet session on Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed the role and guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the efforts of the government in reaching the Iran nuclear deal known as JCPOA.

Meanwhile, he criticized former US president Doland Trump who harmed the deal by his unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018.

Referring to Trump’s economic war against the Iranian nation, Rouhani described  Donald Trump as a criminal who caused many economic damages against Iranians in the past three years.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to the upcoming presidential election in Iran which will be held on Friday.

Stressing that the Friday election is a significant and crucial issue in the country, President Rouhani called on all Iranians to participate in the election.

"The Iranian people have done a great job over the past eight years and 3.5 years of economic warfare, and they are expected to do another great job on election day," he said.

Economic growth brings United States to Vienna

Rouhani hailed the resistance of the Iranian nation during the years of economic war, saying that the economic growth of the country hits 3.6 percent which is one of the great honors of Iran in these difficult conditions.

These are important issues that have brought the United States to the table of talks in Vienna, he added.

"Designing a budget without oil for the first time in the country is one of these achievements and it is very important that the government did not use the monetary base of the country and the Central Bank during the economic war", he said.

"The strategy of this government and the resistance of the people have caused the parties to the JCPOA to admit their mistake today and are negotiating with Iran in Vienna to return to the deal”, Rouhani added.

“We should explain to the people what would the country be like if there were no sanctions and the nuclear deal did not in face problems by a mentally ill man named Trump,” he said.

Saying that why no one spoke of the United States’ crimes during the election campaign and did not mention Trump, the President said, "We have been facing an economic war with economic terrorism in the country for three and a half years and we need to draw a document so that it becomes clear to the people what direct and indirect damages have been inflicted on the country”.
