TEHRAN, Mar. 11 (MNA) – Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday called for Iran to release detained Americans on security charges amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Pompeo warned that the US would hold Tehran responsible if any of them died from the coronavirus, saying that the US calls for Iran to release Americans who are detained on security related charges, according to CNN.

Pompeo also said the furlough of tens of thousands of prisoners demonstrated Iran's "ability to grant clemency and show mercy."
