TEHRAN, Aug. 05 (MNA) – Managing director of West Regional Electric Company announced on Monday that Iran is to expand its electricity export to Iraq and has already consumed $40 million in this regard.

Ali Asadi put Iraqi government’s present debt to Iran at $40 billion in this sector.

The new strategy of Iran Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution Management Company (TAVANIR) is to increase electricity export to neighboring Iraq.

As reported, at the present time, a considerable portion of energy is exported to neighboring countries through West Regional Electricity Company’s grid and the company is regarded as one of energy export corridors to neighboring Iraq.
