TEHRAN, Dec. 08 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Friday that the terrorist movements are making every effort to undermine the regional stability, stressing the importance of promoting cooperation between the neighboring countries to combat terrorism.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Asad Qaiser in Tehran.

Larijani expressed hoped that Iran and Pakistan would enhance parliamentary cooperation for promotion of peace, security and prosperity of the region.

The official referred to the Iranian border guards who were abducted by terrorists in Iran-Pakistan borders in October, calling on the Pakistani side to gear up the measures to ensure the safe return of the abductees.

He also placed special emphasis on the necessity of expanding and developing joint cooperation between the two sides in different sectors of trade, business, investment and energy with the aim of securing mutual interests.

Qaiser, for his part, said developing amicable and close ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran is inevitable for the promotion of peace and security in the region.

He added that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Iran, saying that the current government of Pakistan is determined to strengthen relations between the two neighboring states in a bid to make every effort to uproot terrorism in the region.

Qaiser is visiting Iran to attend the second edition of ‘Speakers Conference’ – a two-day international meeting of parliament speakers from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, China and Russia on peace, connectivity and prosperity in the region.
