TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) – In his meeting with the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate Vito Rosario Petrocelli of Italy late on Thu. in Rome, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that Europe needs to take effective steps to maintain Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) after the US pullout from this international deal.

During his one-day visit to Italy’s capital Rome, Araghchi met and held talks with the President of the Foreign affairs Committee of the Senate Vito Rosario Petrocelli of Italy over the latest status of JCPOA and ways of Iran’s cooperation with Italy and Europe.

For his part, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate Vito Rosario Petrocelli of Italy said that his country backs Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action wholeheartedly adding, “JCPOA is confirmed as an important achievement for stability in the world and Italian Senate strongly supports the deal.”

He emphasized the need to expand and develop parliamentary ties between Islamic Republic of Iran and Italy.

In this meeting, Araghchi also expounded on the latest developments related to JCPOA and commitments of Iran to this international deal that has been confirmed repeatedly by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and said, “we expect that Iranian people will benefit from interests of the deal.”

He once again reiterated that Europe should take practical steps to maintain JCPOA after the US pullout from the deal which is the clear violation of UNSC resolution.

Iran has proved its responsibility in this regard and Europe is urged not to allow US to misuse financial and monetary issues as a weapon for imposing its unilateral sanctions on Iran, Araghchi observed.
