US fresh sanctions violate UN security council resolution

TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that US incurred irreparable damage to its credit in the international arena with its pullout from Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

With its withdrawal from JCPOA, US government not only discredited its position in the international community, but also violated UN Security Council Resolution 2231 with imposition of new sanctions on Iran, he reiterated.

He made the remarks in his meeting with Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher on Thursday.

Paul Richard Gallagher evaluated implementation of JCPOA ‘constructive and positive’ which can guarantee peace, security and stability in the region and world and lashed out at the US unilateral imposition of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Araghchi in this meeting expounded on Iran’s nuclear deal saying, “US has not thus far been committed to any of its international obligations.”

Iranian Deputy FM Araghchi then left Vatican for Spain’s Madrid.
