Iran’s consul general to Pakistani city of Lahore Mohammad Reza Nazeri made the remarks in a meeting with the Trade Committee of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Saturday.
Explaining the importance of developing bilateral trade relations between Iran and Pakistan Nazeri said that Tehran is interested in developing trade with Islamabad.
Emphasizing the need for the two countries' leaders to support the development of bilateral trade relations between Iran and Pakistan, he said that "Pakistan and Iran enjoy a lot of shared borders and commonalities, and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always tried to strengthen bilateral relations with its neighboring countries” adding “Pakistan has always been a priority in this regard."
Iran’s consul general further announced the consulate’s support for the establishment of trade offices in the Punjab province, adding that the consulate is planning to open an exhibition of Iranian products in Punjab in order to promote trade between the two sides.
Nazeri referred to ‘oil, petrochemical and natural gas’, ‘engineering services’, and ‘tourism’ as the top areas in which the Iranian side can be active in Punjab market.
Also in the meeting the head of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry ‘Almas Haidar’ expressed appreciation to the efforts of Iran’s Consulate General in Punjab to help businesses in the province through establishing direct flights between the two countries.
Explaining the trade capacities and large markets of the two countries, Haidar urged the two sides to grab opportunities and expand bilateral cooperation.
He further noted that he had visited Iran and could see the great capacities that Iranian market can provide to Pakistani products.
