Turning to the leading role of Chabahar port in the provision of goods and staples, he said, “about 1.5 million tons of various types of basic goods and commodities are discharged annually through other southern Iranian ports.”
In addition to reduce sea and road transit routes, existence of Chabahar Port will lead to the considerable decline in cost price of goods.
With regard to the situation of equipment and infrastructures in ports and coasts of Sistan and Baluchestan province, he said, “given the suitable situation created after the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), 26 strategic port equipment and machinery were imported into the province.”
Supply of new parts and equipment is one of the most important objectives of ports in Sistan-Baluchestan province, he emphasized.
Giant steps have bene taken in the field of overhauling and renovating port equipment in Chabahar Port, he said, adding, “it is hoped that other required parts and equipment will be provided in the shortest time possible.”
Marketing goods and making investment have bene taken into serious consideration in the provincial Ports and Maritime Organization in the current year (started March 21, 2018), Aghaei observed.
In this regard, “we could attract $69 million worth of capital in port sector of this province in the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2018)," he concluded.
