Iranian envoy Kazem Gharibabadi had separate meetings with permanent representatives of France, Italy, China, EU and South Africa to Vienna where diplomats discussed cooperation in international bodies and Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Condemning US unilateral withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and touching upon the Joint Commission statement in support of JCPOA, Gharibabadi said during these meetings that such measures demonstrate the determination of European countries for saving the pact. However, there is need for more practical solutions, he added.
US unlawful withdrawal from the deal can seriously undermine multilateralism, he highlighted.
Expressing satisfaction over other countries’ stance against US pressures, the Iranian envoy maintained that the United States has never been more isolated in the international community.
All other ambassadors stressed that their respective country supports JCPOA and that they will fulfill their commitments for safeguarding Iran’s interests. They also added that EU’s stance against US is unprecedented and this position will continue to be maintained.
