TEHRAN, Jul. 15 (MNA) – Veteran diplomat and former ambassador of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran said that upcoming visit of Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri to Pakistan is an important step towards progressing and expanding bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He expounded on the significance of trip of a high-ranking delegation of Iranian military commanders to Pakistan and said, “the trip will open a new chapter in bilateral relationship in the military, defensive and security fields between the two neighboring and friendly countries."

Security and economy of the two countries of Iran and Pakistan has intermingled with each other, he said, adding, “given the complexities of global security, stability and security in Iran and Pakistan cannot be ignored, so that this issue requires that each of the two countries of Iran and Pakistan should establish very close relationship in defensive and security fields.”

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri will also visit Pakistani president, so that visit of a high-ranking Irnaian military official with the president of Pakistan will be a sign of determination of the two countries for expanding and broadening mutual ties, the ambassador opined.

Turning to the continuation of interaction and cooperation between Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, he said, “security and stability between Iran and Pakistan depends on the developments in Afghanistan, because, unsecure and unstable Afghanistan will severely affect the security and stability in Pakistan and Islamic Republic of Iran to a great extent, he observed.

Expanding Iran-Pakistan cooperation on border security and fight against terrorism and discussing the latest developments of the region and Islamic World are considered the main topics of future meetings, he concluded.
