“The US withdrawal should be welcomed. Trump once again showed that the world community should not trust the US as it shows no respect to the international law,” Boroujerdi said on Wednesday a day after the United States announced it will pull out of the nuclear deal with Iran.
The Iranian lawmaker expressed his happiness with the position of other parties to the nuclear deal with Iran, stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran should now act and decide based its national interests.
He said that the Europeans have not still shown a resolute response to US pressures, adding that US withdrawal has created a valuable opportunity for the world to try to create a new political order, and independent countries can express themselves.
Boroujerdi also said that now Iran can seize the opportunity to show that Iran’s economy is resilient against sanctions.
He went on to emphasize “the US will be the biggest loser after its withdrawal from the JCPOA,” adding that undoubtedly, Iran will emerge more powerful in the international arena.
Regarding Iran’s missile program, Boroujerdi stressed that the US decision will not affect Iran’s defensive program, adding the Parliament will decide to further support the program when it is necessary.
