TEHRAN, May 08 (MNA) – The first joint Energy Committee meeting between Iran and Algeria was held in Algerian capital Algiers in the presence of high-ranking Iranian delegation.

Iranian delegation, headed by Adnan Qanooni Deputy Ministry of Energy for Export Promotion Center, conferred and held talks with Algerian side with regard to finalizing agreements inked between energy ministers of the two countries for further cooperation in this sector.

The two sides held constructive talks on the potentials and capabilities of Iranian and Algerian companies and exploring avenues for broadening mutual cooperation in the field of energy.

It is supposed that the two countries of Iran and Algeria will cooperate with each other in the fields of energy, power plants, repair and maintenance services of power plants as well as supplying parts and equipment required by Algerian-based power plants.

It is worth mentioning that establishment of a joint energy committee had been agreed between senior energy officials of the two countries for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the course of previous visit of the then energy minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran with his Algerian side almost three years ago.

The 2nd joint Energy Committee meeting will be held in Tehran in coming months.

It is expected that a minute will be signed and sealed by energy ministers of the two countries of Iran and Algeria.
