TEHRAN, May. 06 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who attended Parliament on Sunday to answer the questions posed by Iranian legislators managed to convince the opposing MPs.

In response to questions posed by MPs from Sistan and Balouchestan Province who were angry with Afghanistan’s mismanagement of water of a river which feeds a lake in Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asserted that the foreign ministry has so far held 16 meetings with Afghan officials.

He added that the meeting of water commissioners of the two countries will be held soon in Tehran.

But this was not the only area Mr. Zarif was questioned by Iranian lawmakers, as an MP from the Astara Constituency raised his question about retaliatory measure against the Republic of Azerbaijan which has cancelled offering visa-free entrance to Iranian nationals.

In response to that question Mr. Zarif reassured that his ministry has been doing what has been in the best interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

At the end of the meeting some of the MPs announced that they were convinced with the replies and some others left it to the general vote of all their colleagues.

Finally, the collected ballots showed that 93 MPs out of the total of 207 present in the hall agreed that Mr. Zarif’s responses were convincing while 70 disagreed and 9 other abstained.
