“Nikki Haley was trying to copy Colin Powel’s show and we have to follow up the criminal cases of US involvement in Iraq, Yemen, and Syria with exerting more pressure,” said Morteza Saffari Natanzi, the MP of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee who heads the foreign relations sub-committee of the commission.
The Iranian legislator was referring to Colin Powel’s argument in which he was trying to justify the 2013 US war on Iraq.
“This staged show was inspired by the previous show of Colin Powel, the then Secretary of State of US, and they believed that they can do the same thing here now,” he said rejecting the accusations by US Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley that a missile fired at Saudi Arabia from Yemen last month was supplied by the Islamic Republic..
“Despite the efforts of the Americans, the public opinion is more conscious now than before and even US close friends did not buy into this tale and the UN spokesperson implicitly denied these claims,” highlighted the Iranian MP.
“The Americans are after delivering a blow against the Islamic Republic to make up for the defeat of ISIL by Iran's hands, and that’s why we should be more vigilant now and adopt timely counter-stances to foil their plots,” said Mr. Saffari Natanzi.
The Iranian law-maker added that after the downfall of the ISIL, a chain of countermeasures have been set up by US against Iran, such as the resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri under the pretext of Iran’s interference in Lebanon, US embassy move to al-Quds, and most recently Haley's accusations about Iran's involvment in Yemen.
“The Americans won’t stop after this fake show,” he said. “I see it unlikely that the UN Security Council get swayed by the US claims with such an atmosphere because surely Russia and China won’t accept these claims and the Europeans are no longer buying into such issues,” he said.
