TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, the Secretary of the Guardian Council, denounced Trump's decision to move US embassy to al-Quds, on Wednesday.

“Picking al-Quds as the capital of the Quds-occupying regime enraged the public opinion of the world against this criminal regime,” said Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, the Secretary of the Guardian Council, on Wednesday.

“This measure of US president was unwise and insulting to the public opinion of the Islamic World, and it triggers the protests of not only Muslims but also the other people of the world,” reiterated Mr. Jannati.

“This move will act as the killing agent of this criminal regime and the punishment promised by God in chapter al-Isra (of Quran) will come true,” articulated the Iranian cleric.

Last Wednesday, US President Donald Trump refused to sign the postponement of a Senate act recognizing al-Quds as the capital of the Israeli regime.

The Embassy Act, which was passed in 1995 when Bill Clinton was in the White House was not signed into law by the then president of US. Clinton said in a statement, “the act could hinder the peace process. I will not let this happen and will use the legislation’s waiver authority to avoid damage to the peace process.”
